About Me

Welcome to Doggedly Running!

This is me, doggedly running.
My name is Tessa, and the 2 most important things you need to know about me are that I am a runner, and I love my dog, Lucy.
My uber cute, 80 lb hound/lab mix.
Lucy and I started our lives together in New York City, but moved to Seattle, WA in August of 2008.  We both love living in this city, despite the rainy dreary weather.  And you simply can't beat a Seattle summer.

In April of 2008, I decided to start running because Lucy had a crazy amount of energy that I needed to get rid of.  After a year of life at the dog park, then a few "Lucifer" instances that caused me to make the decision to stop taking her there, running was the only thing I could think of to quickly rid this crazy pup of energy.

Several years later, she has calmed and doesn't quite run with me as often (or as fast) as I'd like her to, but my running career has exploded.  I've tackled a few half marathons, a few marathons, and am starting to get into some triathlon training as well.

I started this blog in October of 2011 as a stress reliever, to distract myself from a difficult year of teaching 1st graders (what I do, and love to do, when I'm not running or spending time with Lucy).  My intent when starting it was to tell the story of me and Lucy, and how one little puppy inspired me to become a runner and change my life.  Now, things have evolved and this blog has become a detailed log of my exercising life, my training experiences, and my races, with a few tidbits about life as a teacher and life with Lucy thrown in.  Really, it's a blog about whatever is on my mind when I sit down to write.

If you like that sort of random rambling, I encourage you to stick around and read for a bit.  Hopefully the future will continue to provide me with entertaining stories and contemplative thoughts to share with you.

Enjoy!
